Who is the MOST important person in your Life?
It is often difficult to figure out who in our life is the
most important person. If somebody asks you: “Who is the most important person
in your life?” what would your answer be?
In a meeting at Crown Plaza Hotel on Friday 22 of February,
a colleague of mine asked me ‘who the most important person in my life is’; to
which I responded: “The Most important person in my life is not God, nor my
parents, nor the politicians, nor my countrymen, and even not any single person
in the entire world. The most important person in my life is ME.”
At first glance, you might think such are the words of
people who are self-cantered, greedy, egocentric and other terms eligible
enough to describe a person whose care and consciousness is limited to himself
and his interests.
However, if your perceptions are all based on others and
their wellbeing and interests, then who is there to care about yours. Most
people who mention God or other figures as being the most important person in
their life other than themselves only do in order to impress others and/or to
serve the interests of others. People are misled by such perceptions and this
is one of the major factors that slows the development of people.
Why do we continue to experience social disorder,
corruption, political crisis, economic downfalls, environmental issues, and law
and order problems? Because we do not have a clear and accurate perception of whom
we really are. We try to impress others or serve their interests in every
occasion while they are waiting for us to change the world.
Even those in positions of power may do certain things in
their own interests but with the ‘title’ of doing them to serve our interests. But
behind the closed doors they pray that we do not discover the truth. Many times
we see that truth, but because we make the mistake of having those in positions
of power as the most important people in our life, we let it go.
For instance if you say that God is the most important
person in your life, then you remain unimportant, caught up in the slavery of
your own perception of who you are and stay the same person while the world
changes and move on with time. So when will God come down to Earth to change
things. Probably God is waiting for you to make the change when you are waiting
for him. When will the power possessors come out to change things? No, they
will not come out. They already have done their part in their own ways but all
of these had resulted in the kind of world that we live in today.
So then, when will you regard yourself as the MOST important
person in your Life, realise and appreciate your potentials and move the world
instead of letting to move you?
